Boating disaster No. 1

After a great curry, lots of beer and having had my 'future' read with tarot cards (more of that later - maybe...) we awoke feeling, well, not refreshed, but certainly less groggy than normal.  As usual, Martin went to check on his 'babies' in the engine room and found that oil was leaking from the ceiling onto the engine.  Things were not looking good!

One of Martin's babies.  This is Dannii (the other's Kylie, obviously)

After much discussion we decided that the ceiling had to come down and we (Martin V) started to take out the 15 screws that held up the ceiling panel.  With nothing to do, I decided to taste it (I'll eat anything, me) and found it was bloody sweet!  Really nice actually!  It was syrup - not sure which brand - but it tasted like Tate & Lyle to me.

We then worked out that it must have come from behind the fridge upstairs in the galley, but it was spotless inside (thanks, Chaz) and I don't think we've ever had any syrup on the boat.  So the fridge had to come out.....  Behind it was a small pool of syrup - not under it, behind it.  If I was American I'd now say something like "go figure!".

Anyway, it's all cleaned up, the ceilings back and we're ready to leave tomorrow.

You all thought I was going to tell how it got there and why it decided to appear right now, didn't you?  But we really haven't a bloody clue!  So 'go figure'.

  1. How very odd!! Maybe you had a syrup eating ghost on board! It's a good job you try anything or you might of taken more bits of the boat off!!
